Erik Strømsø is the CEO and co-founder of BW ESS. Before this role, Mr. Strømsø was a Senior Equity Partner and head of Asia Pacific at Pareto Securities, a leading energy-focused investment bank.

Dr. Nan Jia is the Chief Technology Officer at BW ESS. He is responsible for overseeing project development and deployment, system design verification, flexibility improvements and operational optimisation.

Mr Weisser serves as the CFO of BW ESS, responsible for overseeing, refining, and managing the financing strategy for the company and its energy storage projects worldwide.

Ms. von Erlach is the Chief People & Culture Officer at BW ESS, responsible for overseeing the company’s global People and Culture strategy.

Cordelia Forth is the General Counsel of BW ESS, responsible for legal compliance, including managing risk, advising on regulatory matters and guiding corporate governance.

Richard Thwaites is an Executive Director and Head of UK, responsible for new business development and our UK operations.

Roberto Jiménez is an Executive Director at BW ESS, responsible for sourcing and developing new investment opportunities in the grid scale energy storage space.

Isaac Garcia Moreno is an Executive Director at BW ESS, responsible for sourcing and developing new investment opportunities in the grid scale energy storage space.

Terry Winstanley is the Director of Operations at BW ESS, responsible for asset management, digital monitoring, contract optimisation.

James Davis is the Head of Planning & Development at BW ESS, responsible for our projects in the UK and internationally.

Mr Andy Hadland is an Executive Director at BW ESS, responsible for overseeing our projects in Australia and for providing commercial and asset management services.

Mr Kilian Leykam serves as the Executive Director, Revenue at BW ESS and is responsible for overseeing the optimisation of project revenues and use offtake strategies alongside route-to-market providers to maximise project value.

Andreas Sohmen-Pao is Chairman of BW Group and listed affiliates BW Offshore, BW LPG, Hafnia, BW Energy and Cadeler. He is also Chairman of the Global Centre for Maritime Decarbonisation, and a trustee of the Lloyd’s Register Foundation. Mr Sohmen-Pao was previously Chairman of the Singapore Maritime Foundation and served as a non-executive director of The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Ltd, London P&I Club, amongst others. Mr Sohmen-Pao graduated from Oxford University with an honours degree in Oriental Studies and has an MBA from Harvard Business School.

Mr Clausen is currently the Chairman of BlackRock Europe and is a Board Member of Sampo Plc. He was previously President of the European Banking Federation, the Swedish Banking Association, Danish Stockbrokers Association and Nordea Bank subsidiaries in various countries. He was also a Board Member of the OMX Exchanges Ltd, Stockholm Stock Exchange amongst others. Mr Clausen most recently assumed the position of President and Group CEO of Nordea and holds a Master of Science (Economics) from Copenhagen University.

Stefano Venier is currently Operating Partner for tech and cleantech of private equity fund FSI. He was previously CEO and General Manager of Snam, the largest gas mid-stream player in Europe, CEO and General Manager of Hera, co-leader local Utility in Italy. Before Hera, he worked for the consulting firm Kearney as Vice President Energy and Utilities and for ENI in the down-stream space. He participates in Advisory Boards and he was Board Member of Industrie De Nora, amongst others. Stefano is graduated in Computer Science from the University of Udine.

Georg Müller has many years of experience in utilities and the adjacent energy sector. After studying law and graduating from the Universities of Cologne and Cambridge, he initially worked with commercial and corporate backgrounds, finally as General Counsel of RWE. In 2003, he moved into management as a member and later on as CEO of two RWE subsidiaries. In 2009, he was appointed as CEO of the listed company MVV Energie AG, Mannheim, a position he resigned from at the end of March 2025 after more than 16 years at the helm of the company.
