Erik Strømsø
Erik Strømsø serves as the CEO of BW ESS and Managing Director of BW Renewables. He serves on several boards within the BW Group, including Corvus Energy, a world leading provider of battery energy systems for the maritime space. Tasked with expanding BW’s footprint in sustainable energy and technology sectors, he became a part of the BW Group in 2021.
Before this role, Mr. Strømsø was a Senior Equity Partner at Pareto Securities, a leading Nordic investment bank with an emphasis on energy. He notably spearheaded the bank’s Asia Pacific division, concentrating on capital markets financing and M&A within the energy and infrastructure domains. In his early career, he was deeply involved in the offshore energy sector as an investment banker and a research analyst.
Mr Strømsø holds an MSc. in International Management from London School of Economics and a BSc. in Economics and Business Administration from Copenhagen Business School.
Marc Weisser
Mr Weisser serves as the CFO of BW ESS, responsible for overseeing, refining, and managing the financing strategy for the company and its energy storage projects worldwide.
Prior to joining BW ESS, Mr Weisser was an Executive Director at UBS, where he advised entrepreneurs and global family offices on Corporate Finance with a focus on M&A and capital raising activities across various sectors, including renewable energy and energy transition.
Before that, Mr Weisser was an investment banker at Lazard, Morgan Stanley and Scotiabank in London, focused on M&A, strategic advisory and capital market transactions across the energy, oil and gas sectors, for publicly listed companies, governments, private equity and privately held businesses.
Mr Weisser holds an M.Sc. in Industrial and Financial Economics from the University of Gothenburg, Sweden, and a Diplom-Kaufmann degree in International Business from the University of Paderborn, Germany.
Isaac Garcia Moreno
Isaac Garcia Moreno is an Executive Director at BW ESS, responsible for sourcing and developing new investment opportunities in the grid scale energy storage space.
Prior to joining BW ESS, Mr Garcia Moreno was the Head of Solar and Storage at OX2, a leading global renewable energy developer, where he supported the ramp up of the company’s solar and storage business. He was formerly the Head of Project Development and Regional Managing Director (Sub-Saharan Africa) for Alten Renewable Energy, and COO for LATAM and Southern Europe at Astronergy (part of the Chint Group). Mr. Garcia Moreno also held several technical roles at Isolux-Corsan.
Mr Garcia Moreno has an MSc. in Environmental Engineering from Polytechnical University of Madrid, a BSc. in Business Administration from UDIMA and an MSc. in International Economics and Public Policy from ParisTech and Menendez Pelayo University.
Roberto Jiménez
Roberto Jiménez is an Executive Director at BW ESS, responsible for sourcing and developing new investment opportunities in the grid scale energy storage space.
Prior to joining BW ESS, Mr Jiménez was the Vice-President/General Manager at Shell, responsible for the company’s onshore power business in Europe. In 2017, he started-up Shell’s renewable power business in the region and developed the first utility-scale solar and wind parks. Mr Jiménez was responsible for starting and scaling up Shell’s renewable power business in Europe to 9 GW pipeline of projects and team of 100 professionals. He also held various corporate strategy and innovation roles at Shell. Early in his career, he worked in engineering and management consulting roles at URS (now AECOM) and ERM.
Mr Jiménez has an MBA from Yale University and a BSc. in Biological Engineering from Louisiana State University.
Nicolai Nissen-Lie
Mr Nicolai Nissen-Lie is an Investment Manager with BW ESS. He is responsible for managing and developing existing and new investments in the grid scale energy storage space.
Prior to joining BW ESS, Mr Nissen-Lie was a Strategy & Corporate Development Manager at BW Group, focused on battery energy storage systems investments. Mr Nissen-Lie was formerly the Chief Credit Analyst at Nordea Bank, a leading European bank. He was responsible for covering the banks’ largest and most complex customers within commodity shipping, offshore drilling and supply, including restructuring of multiple companies. In 2020, he was the Acting Manager for the analysts covering Nordea’s entire shipping and offshore portfolio.
Mr Nissen-Lie holds an MSc. in Financial Economics from City University and a BSc. In Economics and Mathematics from Essex University.
Stefanos Ymeri
Stefanos Ymeri is an Analyst at BW ESS, focused on new investment opportunities and market research.
Before this role, Mr Ymeri worked as an Associate Consultant at Bain & Company, specialising in the Energy & Natural Resources practice. Mr Ymeri holds an MSc in Finance from Bocconi University and a BSc in Economic Sciences at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
Leonard Monni
Leonard Monni is an analyst at BW ESS, focused on new investment opportunities and market research.
Prior to joining BW ESS, Mr Monni founded a start-up in the grid-scale energy storage space. Before that, he spent time in infrastructure private equity, focusing on renewable transactions.
Mr Monni holds a BSc in Mechanical Engineering from Politecnico di Milano.
Rebecca Lombardi
Rebecca Lombardi is an Analyst at BW ESS, focused on new investment opportunities and market research.
Prior to joining BW ESS, Ms Lombardi worked as a Project Finance Analyst at BNP Paribas on renewables and infrastructure projects. Before that, she was an Equity Research Analyst at Intesa Sanpaolo – Banca IMI, conducting extensive research and financial analysis for institutional clients in various sectors.
Ms Lombardi holds an MSc in Management and Finance from ESCP Business School in Paris and London, and a BSc in Economics and Management from Bocconi University in Milan.
Julia Kessler
Julia Kessler is the Office Manager & Executive Assistant at BW ESS, responsible for overseeing office operations and providing executive support to our CEO.
Prior to joining BW ESS, Ms Kessler gained a wealth of experience in office administration and executive support at Brame, AMROS Global and Bromar Engineering. In these roles, she managed office operations and assisted the executive team in driving key initiatives.
Ms Kessler holds an MSc in International Business from the Zurich University of Applied Sciences, and a BA in Business Administration from Point Loma Nazarene University.
