Erik Strømsø
Erik Strømsø is the CEO and co-founder of BW ESS.
Before this role, Mr. Strømsø was a Senior Equity Partner and head of Asia Pacific at Pareto Securities, a leading energy-focused investment bank.
Mr. Strømsø also serves on several boards representing BW Group, including Corvus Energy, the world’s leading provider of maritime battery energy storage systems.
Mr Strømsø holds an MSc. in International Management from London School of Economics and a BSc. in Economics and Business Administration from Copenhagen Business School.

Dr. Nan Jia
Dr. Nan Jia is the Chief Technology Officer at BW ESS. He is responsible for overseeing project development and deployment, system design verification, flexibility improvements and operational optimisation.
Prior to the acquisition by BW ESS, Dr. Nan was the Co-Founder and Engineering Director at Penso Power. He has over 18 years of experience in electrical and electronic engineering in the automotive and energy industries, with expertise in grid-scale renewable generation, energy storage, and community energy storage development. In 2013, Dr. Nan founded JWEPanda, a company specialising in behind-the-meter storage projects in the UK. Before this, he led engine control and auto-coding technology at Jaguar Land Rover, JCB and Delphi.
Dr. Nan holds a Ph.D in Electrical Electronic Engineering from the University of Liverpool, and a Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering from Harbin Institute of Technology.

Marc Weisser
Mr Weisser serves as the CFO of BW ESS, responsible for overseeing, refining, and managing the financing strategy for the company and its energy storage projects worldwide.
Prior to joining BW ESS, Mr Weisser was an Executive Director at UBS, where he advised entrepreneurs and global family offices on Corporate Finance with a focus on M&A and capital raising activities across various sectors, including renewable energy and energy transition.
Before that, Mr Weisser was an investment banker at Lazard, Morgan Stanley and Scotiabank in London, focused on M&A, strategic advisory and capital market transactions across the energy, oil and gas sectors, for publicly listed companies, governments, private equity and privately held businesses.
Mr Weisser holds an M.Sc. in Industrial and Financial Economics from the University of Gothenburg, Sweden, and a Diplom-Kaufmann degree in International Business from the University of Paderborn, Germany.

Richard Thwaites
Richard Thwaites is an Executive Director and Head of UK, responsible for new business development and our UK operations.
Prior to the acquisition by BW ESS, Mr Thwaites was the CEO at Penso Power. He was formerly the Chairman at Limejump, a leading UK-based energy technology company acquired by Shell in February 2019. Mr Thwaites spent a large part of his career in investment banking roles at Morgan Stanley and HSBC. He was formerly the Managing Partner and Head of Energy and Renewables at Emergent Capital Partners.
Mr Thwaites holds an MSc in Business and Technology and a BA (Hons) in Economics and Finance, from the University of Strathclyde.

Roberto Jiménez
Roberto Jiménez is an Executive Director at BW ESS, responsible for sourcing and developing new investment opportunities in the grid scale energy storage space.
Prior to joining BW ESS, Mr Jiménez was the Vice-President/General Manager at Shell, responsible for the company’s onshore power business in Europe. In 2017, he started-up Shell’s renewable power business in the region and developed the first utility-scale solar and wind parks. Mr Jiménez was responsible for starting and scaling up Shell’s renewable power business in Europe to 9 GW pipeline of projects and team of 100 professionals. He also held various corporate strategy and innovation roles at Shell. Early in his career, he worked in engineering and management consulting roles at URS (now AECOM) and ERM.
Mr Jiménez has an MBA from Yale University and a BSc. in Biological Engineering from Louisiana State University.

Isaac Garcia Moreno
Isaac Garcia Moreno is an Executive Director at BW ESS, responsible for sourcing and developing new investment opportunities in the grid scale energy storage space.
Prior to joining BW ESS, Mr Garcia Moreno was the Head of Solar and Storage at OX2, a leading global renewable energy developer, where he supported the ramp up of the company’s solar and storage business. He was formerly the Head of Project Development and Regional Managing Director (Sub-Saharan Africa) for Alten Renewable Energy, and COO for LATAM and Southern Europe at Astronergy (part of the Chint Group). Mr. Garcia Moreno also held several technical roles at Isolux-Corsan.
Mr Garcia Moreno has an MSc. in Environmental Engineering from Polytechnical University of Madrid, a BSc. in Business Administration from UDIMA and an MSc. in International Economics and Public Policy from ParisTech and Menendez Pelayo University.

Terry Winstanley
Terry Winstanley is the Director of Operations at BW ESS, responsible for asset management, digital monitoring, contract optimisation.
Prior to the acquisition by BW ESS, Mr Winstanley was the CFO of Penso Power. He was formerly the CFO of Limejump, a leading UK-based energy technology company acquired by Shell in February 2019. Before this, he held roles at Smart DCC and Petronas Energy Trading Limited.
Mr Winstanley is a qualified management accountant with over 17 years of experience in a range of finance roles covering Energy, Trading and Technology sectors.
Mr Winstanley holds a BA (Hons) in Sustainable Performance Management from Manchester Metropolitan University, UK.

James Davis
James Davis is the Head of Planning & Development at BW ESS, responsible for our projects in the UK and internationally.
Prior to the acquisition by BW ESS, Mr Davis was the Head of Planning & Development at Penso Power. With over 16 years of consenting experience in energy infrastructure, he was previously the former Head of Environmental Planning for the UK & Ireland at Lightsource bp.
Mr Davis holds a BSc and postgraduate Diploma in City & Regional Planning from Cardiff University and is a Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute.
